Final score predictions for Texas A&M vs. Missouri: Can Marcel Reed and Aggies stay undefeated and end the Tigers playoff hopes?
Mike Elko has his Aggies red hot, but Eli Drinkwitz has done an excellent coaching job this season with Missouri
The Texas A&M Aggies enter Saturday’s SEC game against Missouri trying to extend their 8-0 undefeated streak to start to the 2025 college football season. The Missouri Tigers are desperately hoping to bounce back from their loss to Vanderbilt, standing likely just one loss away from College Football Playoff elimination.
Texas A&M has been firing on all cylinders with quarterback Marcel Reed and his offensive weapons scoring 31 or more points in all but one game this season. Meanwhile, Missouri will have to start true freshman quarterback Matt Zollers after losing Beau Pribula to injury against Vanderbilt. This game’s outcome sounds like it should be fairly straightforward. Or is it?
Given how important this game is going to be in deciding the path to the College Football Playoff for both teams involved, media members from A to Z Sports who cover the SEC and the entire sport nationally decided to weigh in, predicting a winner. The picks are in. Enjoy!
Key Stats for Texas A&M vs. Missouri
- Texas A&M’s offense ranks top 15 in adjusted EPA per play (expected points added), offensive success rate, and yards per drop back passing
- Missouri’s defense ranks top 15 in slowing down all three of those offensive metrics on the other side of the ball
- Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed ranks top 10 in total yards and touchdowns per game among all power conference passers
- Missouri freshman QB Matt Zollers has just 29 career college football pass attempts in extremely limited action this season
Texas A&M 27, Missouri 19
The Texas A&M Aggies are national title contender this season with a solid offense, quarterback, pass rush, and coaching staff. However, when they have played decent defenses they have been slowed down just a bit. Florida, Mississippi State, and Auburn held the Aggies’ phenomenal offense to an average of 27 points per game. Missouri’s top 15 defense likely does something similar. The issue for the Tigers will be that they’re rolling out a true freshman QB in Matt Zollers. He has a rocket for an arm and loads of talent, but the Aggies will probably be the toughest defense he faces this year. The Aggies still boast an elite third down defense with a handful of NFL players starting on that side of the ball. Missouri likely moves the ball decently between the 20s, but will have several drives stopped short of the end zone in this surprisingly close Aggies win. – Travis May, A to Z Sports CFB & NFL Draft Managing Editor
Texas A&M 30, Missouri 17
The Texas A&M Aggies are on quite the run under second year head coach Mike Elko. They are an offense that is predicated on creating the big play, led by star wide receivers Mario Craver and Kevin Concepcion. Missouri presents an interesting challenge, especially if they can get Ahmad Hardy going, but with quarterback Beau Pribula out injured, it is a lot to put on a true freshman in Matt Zollers for his first career start. While Zollers will make some plays, I see the Aggies being able to create a couple turnovers, which makes the score more lopsided than maybe the actual flow of the game was. – Ryan Roberts, A to Z Sports Notre Dame
Texas A&M 32, Missouri 17
Texas A&M should win this game pretty easily, especially with Missouri’s starting quarterback being out for the rest of the year. Now, make no doubt about it, Missouri – a well-coached team with great players on both sides of the ball – will put up a fight. Regardless, winning this game for A&M would be huge for their case at the No. 2 or even No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff later down the road. Now, the committee may start to factor in how badly teams beat other teams, too. This is the perfect opportunity for A&M to make its stamp on the SEC and the entire country as perhaps the best team in the game. – Justin Churchill, A to Z Sports Oklahoma
Texas A&M 38, Missouri 14
Texas A&M vs. Missouri sounded like a much better game before the Tigers starting quarterback, Beau Pribula, suffered an injury that will keep him out this week. However, the Tigers are still feisty thanks to a good ground attack and one of the best defenses in the country. The Aggies are coming off of a bye week, getting healthier, and I think some of the comments made by the CFP Committee members last night regarding their defense is going to fire them up, making A&M ready to come out hot. Missouri will keep it close early on, but A&M is one of the best second half teams in the country and they’ll pull away big in the second half on the arm and legs of Heisman Trophy contender Marcel Reed. Give me A&M 38, Missouri 14. – AJ Schulte, A to Z Sports Oklahoma
Final Score Predictions for Texas A&M vs. Missouri
The A to Z Sports staff is extremely confident in the Texas A&M Aggies this season, ranking them second overall in the nation. It’s no wonder that on average our staff picked the Aggies to win 32-17 over Missouri this week. That might be a bit too bullish on Texas A&M, but that just speaks to the wildly impressive season Mike Elko and company are putting together.
