Marcel Reed injury questions remain, but KC Concepcion may have revealed how fans should feel as Texas A&M wraps up blow out victory
How severe is Marcel Reed’s injury coming off huge Aggies win?
Marcel Reed was in the middle of another showing on Saturday for the Texas A&M Aggies as they completely wrecked Utah State, but unfortunately went down with an injury late in the third quarter. Reed did run off the field, but the injury severity was immediately unknown.
Reed had already posted his second consecutive performance with at least 286 total yards and four touchdowns, with the game not even three quarters through. We’ll need to wait for more definitive updates from Mike Elko and the Aggies program before assuming everything is okay, but even with the game still going, there was at least one sign that Reed will be OK.
Marcel Reed goes down with injury, but KC Concepcion’s reaction hinted at possible good news
The early star of the game, wide receiver KC Concepcion, had been the focal point of Reed’s passing attack on Saturday, connecting with him for six receptions, 73 yards, and two touchdowns. It’s no wonder that the receiver wanted to make sure his quarterback would be okay after Reed went down with an injury following a scramble.
According to multiple sources (including Travis Brown, Texas A&M senior reporter in his post below), Concepcion made his way over to the training tent, just waiting for someone to come out while Reed was inside. When Concepcion “raised a questioning thumb” to see if Reed was going to be good, the thumbs up was reciprocated. Concepcion celebrated with a fist pump and certainly looked relieved.
Again, we’ll still need to hear official updates from Mike Elko and the medical staff at Texas A&M, but early indications are that Reed is indeed going to be okay. Thank you, KC Concepcion.
Elko also offered a quick, “He’ll be fine,” when asked about the injury on the field immediately following the game, but there aren’t many details on the injury as of this writing.
The Aggies certainly need Reed to be OK because they obviously don’t have great options behind him at quarterback. Miles O’Neill did find an absolutely wide-open Mario Craver for a deep touchdown, but he also threw a bad interception while getting hit shortly after taking the field.
