Win over Missouri much bigger for Texas A&M Aggies than just cementing College Football Playoff appearance

The Texas A&M Aggies blew out the Missouri Tigers 38-17 thanks to a strong second half showing from their elite offense. Marcel Reed and the Aggies’ rushing attack took over and let the defense tee off on the Tigers’ offense, sapping out their momentum and crushing Missouri on the road.

The win cemented A&M’s spot in the College Football Playoff, and puts them one game closer to a berth in the SEC Championship game. However, their win over Missouri had much bigger implications than just their postseason hopes, and the manner in which the Aggies won has made quite the impression on recruits across the nation.

A&M is gunning for the number one recruiting class in the country in both 2026 and 2027, and their success on the field this year is playing a huge part in their momentum on the recruiting front in both classes. As the wins continue to stack up on the field, the wins seem to be lining up off the field as well.

Texas A&M Recruiting Standings

  • The Aggies finished with the ninth-overall class in 2025
  • In 2026, they currently sit sixth overall and third in the SEC, boasting 26 total commits
  • Texas A&M sits just behind the Oklahoma Sooners in the class of 2027, sitting second with five commitments

Aggies winning on and off the field

With just over a month remaining before the Early Signing Period, Texas A&M continues to make strides on the recruiting front. Several top recruits in both the 2026 and 2027 classes are strongly considering the Aggies, and are expected to make visits to College Station before the upcoming early signing period ends.

Perhaps the most intriguing option is the number one defensive tackle in the class in 2026 DT Lamar Brown. Currently committed to the LSU Tigers, Brown has seen a huge increase in interest ever since the Tigers fired Brian Kelly, and the Aggies have made the biggest push. Considering his final choices were LSU and A&M, it’s no surprise the Aggies are making a strong push to close this out and flip him before he ends up at a bitter rival.

Another talented blue-chip prospect in Anthony “Tank” Jones is set to visit College Station before ESD as well. Jones is currently committed to the Oregon Ducks, but he visited A&M once before for their game against the Auburn Tigers, and he is set to visit one final time later on this month. Jones would join Tristian Givens as five-star edge rushers committed to the Aggies in 2026, giving A&M a ferocious duo up front to terrify SEC offenses with for years.

On the other side of the ball, the Aggies are aiming to flip a pair of wide receivers committed elsewhere. Four stars Jase Matthews and Jayden Warren, a Auburn and Houston commit respectively, are in discussions to visit this month as well. The Aggies are aiming to restock their wide receiver room with the anticipated departure of KC Concepcion to the NFL Draft in April, and could take as many as five wide receivers in this class.
