The Texas A&M Aggies have punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff as the No. 7 seed and will host the Miami Hurricanes in College Station. Adding on their first playoff appearance to signing the ninth-ranked recruiting class of 2026, and it has been a strong week of wins for the Aggies. Despite their wins in the moment, they are still looking to keep the momentum for the future to continue their winning ways, and they might have just pulled off their biggest win yet.

After a strong 2025 campaign that had him in the running for the Heisman Trophy until the last week of the season, Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has announced that he will be returning to the Aggies for the 2026 season.

Marcel Reed will keep Aggies’ offense afloat through change

Texas A&M’s offense is going to look vastly different next season. Offensive coordinator Collin Klein is returning to be the head coach of his alma mater at Kansas State. KC Concepcion is gone as a likely first-round pick (at the very least a top-50 selection) in the 2026 NFL Draft. Trey Zuhn III, Chase Bisontis, Armaj Reed-Adams, and Dametrious Crownover are all likely gone on the offensive line. Tight end Nate Boerkircher will graduate, and running back EJ Smith will as well. All this turnover will make things rather difficult to navigate next season, even though the Aggies are replenishing talent well.

Having Marcel Reed back under center to help navigate the murky waters of this turnover is a massive win for the Aggies. A veteran player who has the athleticism to play behind an offensive line with that much turnover and the experience to help settle the youth A&M will no doubt turn to is a boon for the Aggies and their chances at continuing their winning ways next season.

Reed will have to take another step forward as a player to truly enter NFL Draft conversations, so from his perspective, this move makes a ton of sense. We’ve seen the lights click on for quarterbacks routinely in their third years as a starter, which next season would be. If he delivers on that with the turnover around him, Reed’s NFL Draft stock will no doubt be higher than it is right now.
