The Texas A&M Aggies suffer a disastrous loss and it has nothing to do with their game against the Texas Longhorns

Not much has gone wrong for the Texas A&M Aggies on or off the field in 2025. They are 11-0 with a prolific offense and dominant defense, and have chewed up and spit out every opponent on their schedule. The Aggies have a Heisman candidate under center, a Biletnikoff candidate at WR, a Nagurski finalist on the defensive line, and a coaching staff that has them playing at their highest level in decades.

However, they just suffered a huge loss to their 2026 recruiting class to a former Big 12 rival, and it could be one that comes back to haunt them in the future if these two teams have to square off in SEC competition.

The Sooners pull a fast one on A&M

Losing Jonathan Hatton is a huge blow for the Aggies’ offense of the future. It dropped their 2026 class from sixth to ninth, and removed what had once been a huge win for the Aggies over Oklahoma in the offseason. A&M had successfully flipped Hatton away from the Sooners in the spring. Now, the Sooners have reversed the tables on the Aggies.

Hatton is one of the most talented running backs in the 2026 class and has superstar potential written all over him. He’s a bigger back at 205, but his track and testing numbers are pretty unbelievable for a high school athlete. The top-100 recruit has the profile and tools to be an elite bell cow for the Sooners in the future, and could have been for the Aggies.

Luckily, the Aggies can survive this with the players on the roster and the other talent they are bringing in. They still have the number three running back in the class committed in KJ Edwards, but he’s a different style of running back. The Aggies still have promising young players like Jamarion Morrow and Tiger Riden Jr. as well on the roster, so it is a manageable loss. It’s just a huge loss of what could have been for their offense of the future. The fact that it was one for the Sooners makes it a bitter pill to swallow.
