This week, Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman recorded a podcast – outlining the preseason Heisman Trophy odds for the 2025 season. And you guessed it, Arch Manning is the overwhelming favorite weeks before toe meets leather August 30.
Staples compared the Taylor Swift mania which has followed her throughout her career and latest multi-year world tour to the mania in Austin, Tex., for the new quarterback. Currently, he has 6-to-1 odds to win the Heisman, per BetMGM.
“Arch Manning is now the favorite,” Staples said. “He was +900 now he’s +600. Arch Manning has started two games. We have no idea how good he is going to be.”
Arch Manning now has 16.9 percent of the tickets on Heisman Trophy future bets.
Manning has the most handle on Heisman Trophy futures bets at 22.8 percent which is more than 1/5 of the money. Even with Staples’ cautious approach to the situation, Wasserman is quite bullish.
“Arch Manning is a lock to go to New York,” Wasserman said. “I think if he is average in that offense then he will put up good enough numbers to warrant the mania.”
Even more impressive than Manning being this big of a favorite despite only starting two games, the company he is in is even more impressive. Go back a decade and you had a three-headed hype monster.
- Marcus Mariota – 6-to-1
- Jameis Winston – 9-to-2
- Braxton Miller – 15-to-2

Five years later and the odds were even shorter for the Heisman Trophy.
Trevor Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa both entered the 2019 season with 3-to-1 odds. Naturally, a relative no-name who transferred from Ohio State to LSU won it all: Joe Burrow.
Manning enters the year with elite pedigree and albeit slight production in minimal appearances last season. Furthermore, you can make even more of a case for Manning to win it with the combination of individual talent and team context. Texas is preseason No. 1 and returns an offense loaded with playmakers.
Add in his slept on athleticism and mobility and he has a unique dimension to his game. Manning’s knack for extending plays and flashing his arm talent to make highlight-reel plays is another thing to consider when Heisman Trophy voters are looking to place their vote in December.
Typically, fair or not, the Heisman Trophy is awarded to the best player on one of the nation’s best teams.
Texas is expected to contend for the Southeastern Conference title as well as a CFP berth. Manning could be in prime position for national exposure in the Longhorns’ marquee games in 2025. A high-profile schedule and one of the sport’s most recognizable last names, Arch Manning has just about every tool you need to cash out a futures bet for the Heisman Trophy.
