Michael Taaffe’s marketing for teammate Jahdae Barron got a huge lift Sunday night from Texas ex Xavier Worthy.

The Kansas City Chiefs star receiver wore a “Jahdae for Thorpe” shirt during warm-ups Sunday before the Chiefs faced the Los Angeles Chargers.

“FU*K it twin for Thorpe,” Worthy wrote on an Instagram post.

It’s too late to influence any votes as the ballots have already been collected. The winner will be announced Thursday.

Still, Worthy’s show of support for his former teammate was a terrific showcase for the Thorpe finalist.

Barron had his fifth interception of the season in Saturday’s SEC championship loss to Georgia. He has 32 tackles and nine pass break-ups this season for Texas (11-2), which is now headed into the College Football Playoffs to face Clemson in the first round.

Barron is going to join Worthy in the NFL next season, and the cornerback will some day have to line up and guard his receiving buddy.

Barron almost jumped into the NFL Draft last season but opted to come back after getting lower-round draft grades. Now, Barron is a likely late first- or early second-round prospect. Barron has learned under Michael Huff, a Thorpe winner who also wore jersey No. 7 during his playing days.

“He came back to be great, but he came back because he wore No. 7,” Taaffe said of Huff’s old number now being worn by Barron. “No. 7 here won Thorpe Award. So it’s kind of cool to see it come all to fruition.”
