Xavier Worthy is getting another opportunity in a place that he has some history with.
Next Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs will play the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
But for the Chiefs rookie receiver, this will not be his first time playing in this specific stadium. So for him, this game is all about redemption.
"I mean, wow, I was hoping to get back in there, man. Lost my last one in there," Worthy told reporters on Thursday. "So, just get a chance at redemption."
During his final season with Texas, Worthy helped his team not only defeat Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship, but also earn a spot in the 2023-24 College Football Playoffs.
They were tasked with going up against Washington in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, which just so happened to be held in New Orleans.
The game came down to the wire, but in the end, Washington defeated Texas, 37-31.
Worthy was forced to watch as the Huskies celebrated a trip to the championship game on the field. And meanwhile, his college career had just ended sooner than he wanted.
"I got this picture in the end zone when I was sitting in the end zone. They're doing, like, the ceremony. So that's just like, my memory," he explained. "Motivating. It's my motivation."

His memories at the Caesars Superdome are not happy ones, but that could all change very quickly. The Chiefs are looking to make history, becoming the first team in the league to three-peat. And with that, Worthy could finish off his impressive rookie year with a Super Bowl championship.
If all that happens, it's safe to say that his past loss with Texas will be far from his mind.
