If anyone knows about Texas quarterback controversies, it’s Chris Simms.

Longhorns fans argued over Simms and Major Applewhite in the early stages of Mack Brown’s tenure at the turn of the century. Simms would ultimately win the starting job as fans wondered if Applewhite could have done better.

Now, Simms watches the Texas program from afar as a national NFL commentator. Still, he said that Quinn Ewers’ time is over and “it’s Arch manning’s show from here on out.”

Simms said that from the people he knows in the program, “they couldn't be more excited about arch Manning.”

“His mind, his physical ability. I think they feel like their offense will go to another level with Arch Manning at the helm there,” Simms said.

“He’s got away with the guys,” Simms added. “That was the first thing that I was told about Arch Manning. For some of my Texas friends, the guys love Arch Manning. Not that they like dislike Quinn Ewers, but that Arch Manning is the guy.”

Manning has already been seen doing crazy touchdown dances and he’s unafraid to run over defenders while diving for the pylon.

“The fact that he’s a Manning, and he's so humble and he works hard, sounds like he's got a good personality and all that, it rubbed off on the whole team,” Simms said. “And I think the whole organization of Texas, football is extremely excited to get the Arch Manning era underway.”
