Dia Bell has been off the field at American Heritage (Fla.) for 10 months after a leg injury sidelined him last season. Now, he’s back in 2025 and hasn’t skipped a beat. On Friday, the five-star signal caller didn’t have to do much, but he made it count when his number was called.

Bell finished just 8-for-10 for 100+ yards in a 23-14 win over McArthur (Fla.), but he had some highlight reel throws. American Heritage is ranked 8th in the country after finishing 12-2 in 2024. Despite Bell’s injury, the Patriots made a run all the way to the title game and took home for the 4A state championship.

Now with the Texas commit back under center, many expect American Heritage to make a run at back-to-back titles.

247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins likens Dia Bell’s game to Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

“Crafty quarterback prospect with a well-rounded game that has shown year-over-year improvement. Had junior campaign cut short due to injury, but put strong spells of play on tape while navigating through one of the more difficult schedules in the country,” Ivins said. “Frequently calm and collected in the pocket and isn’t one to flinch in the face of pressure as he uses his above-average athleticism to extend plays and get out of trouble. Smooth stroke and cleaner mechanics allow him to layer the football to the second level and exploit tight coverage windows.

Utilizes plenty of touch on his deep shots and will lead his wide receivers to the promise land. Has gotten better at working through his progressions, but must keep evolving as a field reader and understand when the risk might outweigh the reward,” Ivins said. “Likely to undergo a major physical transformation in the coming years as in-person evaluations suggest that the body – which is equipped with big 10-inch hands – is still maturing.”

Next week, Bell and his teammates welcome St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) to Plantation, Fla. Last season, the Hawks went 12-2 and won its third consecutive PIAA Class 6A title. SJP is led by Penn State defensive line commit Alexander Haskell and West Virginia safety commit Simaj Hill. 2027 prospect Charlie Foulke IV is under center and three-star Brandon Lockley. is alongside Hill in the secondary.
