'We weren't very good' – Texas QB Arch Manning makes honest admission while dropping a classic Manning-like quote

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning could've played high school football for a powerhouse school in Louisiana, Texas, or Florida (or anywhere in the country, really).
Instead, the New Orleans native chose to play high school football at Isidore Newman — the same school where his dad, Cooper, and his uncles, Peyton and Eli, played.
As a result, Manning didn't win a state championship in high school. And he faced heavy criticism for not playing against high-level competition.
Earlier this year, Manning admitted in a social media clip — which compared him to Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry — that the competition he faced in high school was "terrible".
"I wish I was Derrick Henry, he's a great looking athlete," says Manning in the clip. "I also played against terrible competition in high school. Not terrible, but like, smaller competition in high school, so it's not really saying much."
Manning appeared on the Texas One Fund podcast last week and he admitted that his high school team wasn’t very good — but he also shared a funny quote that helped explain why.
"We weren't very good," Manning honestly admitted. "But we had a lot of lawyers and doctors on our team."
That line from Manning — a classic combo of self-deprecation and an "on the bright side" type of compliment for his former teammates — sounded like something straight from Cooper, Peyton, or Eli.
The Manning brothers were known for being terrific leaders and even better teammates. Those traits, along with their talent, are a big reason why Peyton and Eli won two Super Bowls each.
Arch is still in the early stages of his football career, but it's already clear that his demeanor — which is remarkably similar to that of his famous uncles — will serve him well in his future NFL career.
