The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some of the strictest guidelines for what kind of person makes their team of any in the NFL, so it's not a surprise when they prioritize signing former captains. The Texas Longhorns run their program like an NFL team does, and that often means having high-character leaders headline their locker room.

Despite this being a major selling point for center Jake Majors, the center went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. It didn't take long for the Buccaneers to make the call to Majors since they have a need for depth at the position and Majors had a draftable grade on our board.

In the aftermath of the 2025 NFL Draft and free agency frenzy, Majors is looking like a potential steal. Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski went so far as to predict Majors makes the Buccaneers' final roster.

"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose Graham Barton in last year's first round. The team doesn't have any established depth behind him at the current moment, hence why the Bucs signed a pair of undrafted centers in Texas' Jake Majors and Nebraska's Ben Scott. Majors is the logical choice to assume the role after a program-record 57 career starts at Texas."

Offensive line expert Brandon Thorn added more to the evaluation part of Majors' game.

"Majors is a high-IQ, experienced and skilled center-only prospect with short arms, adequate athletic ability and middling power," Thorn wrote. "He has the intangibles, run-blocking skills and understanding of leverage to earn a backup role in the NFL, but his mediocre physical tools will make it difficult for him to match up with defensive tackles consistently."

The Buccaneers lost Robert Hainsley in free agency to Jacksonville this offseason. While Barton is locked in as the starter, Majors' presence was necessary. The Buccaneers have only one backup who was drafted behind their starting line, so there's a talent deficiency in-house.

Majors joins Ja'Quinden Jackson as a notable UDFA signing.
