Any time a professional athlete is alleged to have sexually assaulted someone it needs to be taken seriously. However, the allegations against former Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond are still just that at the moment–allegations.

For those who may have missed it, Isaiah Bond recently turned himself in for an outstanding sexual assault warrant, but was released shortly after posting bond. The details on the original allegations and situation have still not been made completely available to the public, but one thing is clear. Isaiah Bond is fighting the claims. And as of Wednesday April 16 he and his lawyers are set to sue the woman responsible for his warrant.

Isaiah Bond claims allegations are false

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Isaiah Bond's legal team sent an email to every single team in the league with a 17-page complaint attached concerning the sexual assault allegations directed towards the former Texas Longhorns star. This was the message sent to all 32 teams (and the first page of the 17-page document):

"Earlier this evening, Isaiah's attorneys at Nesenoff & Miltenberg, LLP filed the attached complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas in response to the false allegation of sexual assault and defamatory statements made against him. Unlike the false narrative that has been amplified, the truth, once revealed in its entirety, will show that he was targeted by a woman eight years his senior, relentlessly pursued, enticed by explicit photos & videos and ultimately setup for financial gain.

Isaiah, like most twenty-one-year-olds, must show a higher level of discernment in social media interactions and access, however, he is completely innocent of the allegations levied against him and will fight to clear his name. For Clubs that still feel his elite talent can help them win games for the next decade, he is eager to get back on the gridiron where he feels most at home."

Isaiah Bond's legal team confidently and vehemently insists that these allegations were an attempt from his accuser to "derail [Isaiah Bond]'s future career prospects". Bond's lawyers continued to outline how many athletes have often been targeted in a similar fashion (and Bond won't be the last), but given the timing this potentially complicates things for the young wide receiver.

Unfortunately it is still quite early in legal proceedings, so NFL fans and teams won't get any real answers on this situation ahead of the NFL Draft that is set to take place April 24-26. This obviously makes Isaiah Bond one of the widest variance wild card selections in the entire 2025 NFL Draft.

Isaiah Bond was long considered an early-round NFL Draft pick as you can see demonstrated in the image below that depicts his consensus expected draft range via large sample mock draft data. However, that might not be the case anymore.

Given the uncertainty of his legal situation–even though he is claiming full innocence–it could cause his NFL Draft stock to plummet. He was trending towards potential late round two draft capital considering where the teams he has been visiting with most throughout this process have their picks situated. Now he may fall into late day three of the NFL Draft or even beyond that.

Look for the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, or perhaps the Dallas Cowboys to take a chance on him late in the draft anyway considering his upside, talent, and their interest this spring in private meetings and workouts. Regardless of where Bond lands in the NFL, it looks like he's still going to be in for quite the legal journey in the coming weeks and months.
