The saying “recruiting never stops” has never rang more true than in 2025. With the transfer portal being front and center in college football, NIL and revenue share, and recruits seeking out monetary value more and more, you’ve got to always be looking ahead and moving forward.

With the recent unveiling of the 2028 rankings, major prospects are on the board and the Texas Longhorns are no different from any other major program. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are already on the minds of some of the top sophomores in the country.

“Four-star safety James Foster out of Lancaster (Texas) High made his way to campus at Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, Baylor and TCU over the past off-season — with a visit back to Austin to work out for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns’ staff in June,” Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman writes. “Foster is expected back at several of these same programs for in-season game-day visits. That includes Texas, a team expected to be fully in the mix with Foster moving forward.”

Another four-star prospect from the state of Texas is looking to take a visit this fall.

“Damarion Mays is one of the top pass-catchers in the country out of Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley High,” Spiegelman said. “The four-star WR made visits out to TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and Ohio State this offseason — and is expected back at each of the Texas-based programs for game-day visits this fall.

“All of these visits caught my attention and I liked all of the schools when I visited them. Texas really stood out because of the energy of the staff … It was unmatched,’ Mays said. “I’m certain I’ll see Texas A&M again. The atmosphere there was nuts.”

One more top prospect in the 2028 class Texas fans need to know about is Royce Bimage.

“The four-star cornerback worked out at Houston, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M over the summer — and is expected to be back on campus at each of those contenders for game-day visits this fall,” Spiegelman said.

“They were all great,” Bimage said of his summer visits. “Coach (Mark) Orphey, Coach (Jordan) Peterson and Coach (Corey) Raymond gave me a lot of things I can use at Dickinson this season.”

Bimage’s brother plays at Arizona State, but the Dickinson (Tex.) prospect will have plenty of suitors outside of the Sun Devils.
