Super Bowl media day is a wild affair where no topic is off limits. For Xavier Worthy, he was ready and eager to talk about his Texas Longhorns.

The Texas ex is finishing up a tremendous rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs and could become the first Longhorns player to score in the Super Bowl.

Worthy is keeping close tabs on what’s happening back in Austin, though. During media day, Worthy laid bare his high expectations for the Horns and quarterback Arch Manning in 2025.

“Arch is a dawg, man,” according to podcaster Adam Silverstein. “I expect nothing less than a Heisman. Nothing less than a Heisman.”

Tons of outside observers have Heisman-level hopes for Manning. Oddsmakers have Manning among the top three contenders on the board for the 2025 Heisman Trophy even though this will be his first full season as a starter.

Worthy might have done tremendous damage with Manning at the controls. Worthy was a dynamic deep threat with Quinn Ewers. But Ewers was more of a short- to medium-range passer. Manning went out there and threw bombs against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State, admitting recently that he got a little “greedy” at times.

Worthy had 1,774 of his 2,755 receiving yards at Texas in 2023-23 when Ewers was the starter. His average yards per reception those years was 13.1.

Manning averaged 15.4 yards per completion during his cameo appearance in 2 1/2 games with the Longhorns last season.

Worthy’s gotten off to a great start with the Chiefs and can earn a Super Bowl ring this Sunday with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles. If the Chiefs do win it all, you can bet Worthy will be back in Austin showing off that ring and telling Manning to go get his own someday.
