Multiple Texas players reveal the major key to beating Florida in the Swamp Saturday
Saturday is going to be loud, but Texas is preparing accordingly.
The Top 10 Texas Longhorns travel to the Swamp this weekend to take on the Florida Gators in front of 90,000 people. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have reiterated all week the importance of making sure everyone on the same page when entering the 12th-largest stadium in the country.
And his players know how important it is, too.
“It’s just making sure everyone’s on the same page,” redshirt sophomore quarterback Arch Manning said during his Monday press availability. “You got to be loud with your cadence and just making sure we’re all flowing as a unit.”
The Texas head coach has been pounding the communication drum all week.
“[Ben Hill Griffin Stadium] obviously is a very difficult place to play, it’s a place that’s known around the country as a difficult place to play,” Sarkisian said. “I think we’ve created a culture around here where connectivity is important, so you have to have connectivity on the road.”
The early drives are going to be paramount to the end result for the Longhorns. You have to stay on schedule on the road and you have to score points on early drives. Parker Livingstone spoke about how it can be a challenge this week.
“Yeah, if one of the receivers doesn’t get to play and you’re trying to communicate when the fans are yelling, especially like on third down and stuff it can be an issue,” Livingstone said.

Arch Manning reveals true feelings about Texas Longhorns Week 6 game against Florida Gators
This one is quite interesting for several reasons on both the Texas and Florida sidelines.
Ryan Wingo is a major key to Saturday’s game.
He has yet to truly break out but he looked to be trending in the right direction with Manning against Sam Houston. But for him, he’s more concerned with the communication aspect of the game versus statistics.
“We really have to dial in this week and practice with the noise loud, so we can communicate better,” Wingo said. “All we have to do is watch the ball and then we see a lot of signals, that’s the thing for us. It’s not hard, but when you do hear intense crowd noise, it can kind of get to you, that’s where you have to focus in on the one-on-one matchup in front of you.”
Penalties are among the many issues when it comes to raucous environments. If Texas can limit the negative plays and yellow flags, this could be a pivotal point of the season for the Longhorns.
