Last week, FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd went on his radio show to talk about a potential link up of two college football giants. One, well-established and the other a new kid on the block who has maybe more hype than anyone ever.
Cowherd floated the idea of former Alabama head coach and current College GameDay anchor Nick Saban returning to coaching. He thinks there’s some buzz to the seven-time national champion making a return to the NFL to Cleveland in 2026. And get this, he thinks the Browns are keen on drafting Arch Manning to pair with the hall of fame coach.
“You’re in the business and you get paid by how many hits you get,” Haslam said. “I think if you know the Manning family, I would bet — and I don’t know Arch at all — I bet he stays in college two [more] years.
“I don’t even think it’s worth discussing.”
Arch Manning will be eligible for the NFL Draft in 2026. But, would he be ready?
He’s only played in a few games at Texas – starting one game, coming in for some spot duty when Quinn Ewers was hurt, and some mop up duty. Last season, Manning threw for 939 yards and nine touchdowns while also running for 108 yards and four more scores.
Haslam, who graduated from Tennessee, has a strong relationship with Arch’s uncle, Peyton, from his time playing quarterback for the Volunteers. The Browns have two first-round picks in next year’s draft, but for now it seems very premature to speculate.
The focus for Arch right now seems to be the first day of fall camp Wednesday. Earlier this month, he downplayed plenty of hype, Heisman projections, and the August 30 opener versus the defending national champions. The early odds to win the trophy list Manning as the frontrunner (+650). He laughed it off quickly.
“I’m not really sure how they got these opinions because I’ve only played in, what? Two games?” Manning said. “I guess it’s nice of them to say, but it doesn’t mean anything. Talk is cheap, I’ve got to go prove it.”

Arch Manning will be tossed into the proverbial fire in the season opener.
But, the preparation the young quarterback has done these last three years and, well, really his entire life should have him prepared. He thinks the 2025 Texas roster is going to put him into position to succeed.
“We’re opening with the champs,” Manning said. “It’s going to be a fun one. I learned a lot from Quinn – he was damn good on the road. I’m going to text him, get some of his advice, and we’ll fire up. Ohio State is a really good team, so it’s going to be a good challenge.”
As of this month, Texas is currently slated with the second-best odds to win the national championship (+550) behind only, you guessed it, the Buckeyes (+500).
