Westwood (Tex.) quarterback Kavian Bryant just put on a performance for the ages last week. The five-star prospect tossed the pill for 469 yards and four touchdowns on 26-for-34 passing (76 percent). He also rushed for 89 yards and two more scores on six carries in a blowout win over Mexia (Tex.), 54-14.

Bryant spoke with 247Sports’ Jordan Scruggs after the dominant showing last week.

“It felt good,” Bryant said. “We’ve been putting in a lot of work and I’ve been connecting with my receivers, we’ve been working.”

Texas’s season has started but Steve Sarkisian and his staff are keeping tabs on Kavian Bryant.

“It’s been good. They’re contacting, great relationships. Coach Sark, coach (AJ) Milwee, great relationships. Just trying to build a connection,” Bryant said. “They want me really bad so I’m gonna keep building the connection.”

Bryant went on to talk with Scruggs about how much he enjoys watching Texas play and thinks he would be a seamless transition at quarterback.

“I watch them a lot. Their offense is pretty great and I feel like I can fit into it. They know who they’re coming for.”

Kavian Bryant was at Florida State for the huge upset of Alabama.

Bryant says now he will trip to Texas later this month for the Sam Houston game. He also told Scruggs he wants to take in games at SMU and Texas Tech. For now, at least, the 6-foot-2, 180 pound signal caller has a top group of Florida State, Michigan, SMU, Texas, Texas Tech and plans to make a decision “sometime in October, late October”.

He also told Scruggs what it’s going to take to get his signature on national signing day.

“Just going to keep building a relationship with the coaches. And seeing who really, really, really wants me and what the best opportunity is for me to play and to lead their team to possibly a National Championship.

“I would love to go play and start and I’m going to fight for the position,” Bryant said. “But if it comes to me sitting down and watching another quarterback start, I can do that too.”

As a sophomore, Bryant threw for 2,442 yards, 34 touchdowns, and just three interceptions – completing an absurd 82 percent of his passes. He also ran for 709 yards and 11 scores on 12.2 yards per carry. Westwood finished 11-1 and made it all the way to the Texas 3A D-I second round.
