Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed rumors of Arch Manning having shoulder pain during a media session Monday. And he didn’t hold back in his response.

“He doesn’t have any… I don’t know. I’ve never filmed any of you guys when you’re using the restroom. So, I don’t know what faces you make when you’re doing that.”

In Saturday’s blowout win of San Jose State, there was one throw in question where Manning made a disapproving face. Many began to immediately speculate it was because he was hurt or injured. Afterwards, Manning met with the media and said it was because he was not pleased with the throw.

Arch Manning had some questioning his ability after the season-opening loss to Ohio State.

But, after Saturday’s four touchdown pass performance, it appears his arm is just fine. As well as his legs as he ran for another score.

Like Sarkisian pointed out after the game Saturday, Manning also pointed to some things the Longhorns can clean up as Southeastern Conference play begins in a few weeks. The first-year starter holds himself to a high standard and is keen on improving this week in practice ahead of the Sam Houston game.

“I thought I did a little bit of a better job just playing ball and having fun, being efficient, I have to do a better job at that,” Manning said.

“I think I need to step up and continue to do that. When players are able to coach players, it’s a big thing.”

Speaking of stepping up, redshirt freshman Parker Livingstone stepped up big-time Saturday, going over the century markk in receiving yards and scoring three times. With Ryan Wingo’s slow start and both he and DeAndre Moore drawing double teams and bracket coverage, Livingstone is taking full advantage and making plays.

One thing Livingstone wants to improve on, though, is blocking better in the open field.

“I felt bad for D-Mo, I took away a big gain from him. I have to be better at blocking. That changes the entire first drive and the first couple of drives to be honest.”

As I alluded to, Sarkisian thinks what Livingstone is doing is only going to help both Wingo and Moore.

“It’s great for [Wingo] right now that Parker’s doing what he’s doing,” Sarkisian said. “That’s getting a little bit the attention off of him, and Parker’s making his plays when they’re coming to him. So that’s a good thing.”
