Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns just keep destroying the competition on the recruiting trail. They just brought in the number one overall recruiting class for 2025. They already have their five star quarterback for 2026 and two other offensive pieces around him. Now they've got even more exciting news to share with Longhorns fans.

Ezavier Crowell, Four Star RB Recruit

Ezavier Crowell is one of the most impressive running back recruits in the nation. So much so that he actually reclassified from the 2027 recruiting class to 2026 following back to back 2000-yard seasons as a freshman and sophomore. Crowell was on pace to be a potential five star running back in the 2027 recruiting class, but in order to get to college (and ultimately the NFL) faster he decided to graduate early.

Texas fans are likely already familiar with Crowell because he just recently canceled his official summer visit with the Longhorns. However, thanks to the new hire of running backs coach Chad Scott, the official visit is back on and scheduled for June 6-8.

When news broke that Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice would be leaving to join the Detroit Lions, Ezavier Crowell immediately canceled his visit with the team. He had apparently forged a strong relationship there as Texas had grown into one of Crowell's likely top four schools.

After Chad Scott was hired this week to replace Choice he made it his first priority to get Ezavier Crowell back into the future plans. Getting that official visit back on the schedule is a huge win, marking an impressive start for Coach Scott.

Texas still has to beat out Alabama, Auburn, and Florida State down the stretch if they want to officially land the commitment from Crowell, but it seems they're gaining their momentum back. The Longhorns just shed an official visit they had planned with another four star running back in Javian Osborne, so Crowell will likely have less competition for touches within the same recruiting class if he does indeed end up landing with the Longhorns.

Crowell is from Alabama, so most experts believe the two in-state schools are the Longhorns' top competition. But Mike Norvell has a strong track record of sending running backs to the NFL in recent years. That has been a point brought up in favor of the Seminoles throughout Crowell's recruitment.

Landing Ezavier Crowell should be a top priority for the Longhorns seeing as CJ Baxter could depart for the NFL Draft next spring if he puts together a strong 2025 campaign. Tre Wisner will still be around beyond this season, but he could use a backfield partner to share the load with in the Longhorns high volume, explosive offense. Let's just hope Steve Sarkisian and new running backs coach Chad Scott can close the deal.
