Tyler Legacy (Tex.) offensive tackle DeMarrion Johnson was in Austin, Tex., over the weekend to get a closer look at the Texas Longhorns program.

Johnson committed to Texas A&M earlier this year, but is still listening to Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood. He spoke with Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods after the game about the visit and the experience.

“It was a night game. I love going to night games,” Johnson said. “It was a big win, 55-0 win. That was pretty cool. They had a good drone show. That was nice.”

He went on to explain why he traveled to the Forty Acres.

“I really wasn’t doing anything this weekend, so I might as well go look at a college,” he said. “A&M had a bye week, so I couldn’t go down there.”

Next weekend, though, Johnson will be back in College Station to watch the Aggies host Auburn. He seems content with his early commitment to Texas A&M, but there’s no question he is keeping one foot out the door and listening to what the Texas staff has to say.

“My recruitment right now is not fully shut down. It’s still a little open,” Johnson said. “I’m kind of set where I’m going, but if anything were to happen, I don’t know where the future holds, Texas would be up there.”

A few other top targets were in town with DeMarrion Johnson.

2027 Oregon commit Jalen Lott was in town. Sources tell Suchomel he is still very happy with his verbal commitment to the Ducks, but him showing up still means something. Another top 2027 target was in town next to Lott. Westwood (Tex.) quarterback Kavian Bryant was once again in Austin.

A lot has been made about his visit to Texas Tech and there’s no question the Red Raiders are all in when it comes to committing to NIL in order to get things done. But, Bryant seems to care a little more about a few other things. He spoke with 247Sports’ Jordan Scruggs before departing.

“I mean just being with the coaches all day and them showing their true love was really touching,” Bryant said. “Coach Milwee showed me how he watches my film and what I need to improve on, which is what I love from a coach so I can know what I need to fix and become better at it.”
