The Texas Longhorns may be out of luck when it comes to landing one of their top 2026 recruiting targets.

Texas is the top program that's working to flip 2026 four-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene from the Oregon Ducks.

Greene, 6-foot-6/290 lbs from Santa Ana, CA, is rated by On3 as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of California. He's also rated as the No. 12 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class (which means he'll almost certainly be elevated to five-star status soon).

The California native has been committed to Oregon since August, but that hasn't stopped other programs from recruiting him.

Greene admitted to On3 this week that the path that Texas is on keeps him "excited", specifically pointing out that he's impressed by the way the Longhorns develop offensive linemen.

The highly-coveted recruit, however, doesn't sound like he has any intentions of flipping from Oregon.

“It would be extremely tough for another program to flip me from Oregon and I don’t see it happening,” said Greene to On3

That doesn't sound encouraging for the Longhorns' hopes of flipping Greene, though Texas will undoubtedly keep swinging in this recruiting battle. But based on Greene's comments to On3, it might be all for naught.
