The Texas Longhorns have put together a strong offseason already when it comes to talent acquisition. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff currently boast a top three overall recruiting class for 2026 when combining both incoming transfers and freshman recruits.

Now, Sarkisian and the Longhorns are pushing hard to make sure they follow up their impressive showing this cycle with a strong 2027 as well. Texas is already on pace for a top ten class in 2027 with five top notch recruits committed (most notably five star wide receiver Easton Royal). They may be able to add another blue chip now too, if they can beat out SEC and national rivals for him.

Four-star tight end Brock Williams down to Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas

The Texas Longhorns have developed a bit of a pattern over the last few years under Steve Sarkisian when it comes to recruiting. Join late, push hard, and win. The Longhorns don’t always have the first offer in on their top recruiting prospects, but when they want someone Sarkisian and his staff go all-in to make it happen. That’s what they’re doing again with highly touted four star tight end recruit Brock Williams from Libertyville, Illinois (class of 2027).

Williams was pursued aggressively by most every major blue blood program throughout and immediately following his 2024 breakout sophomore season as it became clear this 6-5 playmaker with great length and long-striding speed was going to grow into a Top 100 overall player. The Longhorns took their time, waiting until March of this past year to offer him, and didn’t visit with him right away either. Still, according to sources close Williams and recruiting experts around the country, Sarkisian and company find themselves firmly entrenched in a battle against the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ohio State Buckeyes for Williams’ services with a decision on his future likely coming soon.

Williams visited with both Georgia and Ohio State extensively and early in his recruiting process. Both schools clearly became front runners for his services, with many recruiting experts believing Georgia held an early lead for him. Then the Buckeyes seemed to surge, posting an intense run of around a half dozen visits with him over the course of the last year. The battle seemed to be down to the Buckeyes or the Bulldogs, until this January when Texas emerged.

Sarkisian, as he so frequently does, swooped in late, and now finds himself in Williams’ top three schools. The Texas staff has now met with Williams a couple times, including once to wrap up January. Williams also just saw Georgia again, leading some recruiting experts to revert back to them being the favorite, but don’t count Texas out.

The only major stumbling block that might slow Texas’ momentum in this recruiting battle is the fact that they already have a tight end committed in their 2027 recruiting class (JT Geraci of Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey), but Williams would instantly be perceived as an upgrade there.
