After Saturday’s 26-23 win over St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), Ohio State commit Chris Henry Jr., spoke with the media. The five-star wide receiver has been committed to the Buckeyes since 2023 and is back with a vengeance in 2025 after suffering a season-ending knee injury last season.

“I felt great about my performance,” Henry said after the game. “As far as my rehab, I just kept my head down and trusted in God. That’s all, it was just leaning on God.”

The performance Henry is referencing was a dominant four receptions for 135 yards and two touchdown clinic. Mater Dei (Calif.) had to earn it, but when the offense turned to the 6-foot-5, 205 pound prospect, he answered the call.

Despite the longtime commitment to Ohio State, two programs are still in contact.

In an interview with Rivals’ Marcus Benjamin, Henry mentioned Oregon and Texas as the main ones remaining in contact with him.

“They are still hitting me up, but I’m at Ohio State, so.”

Henry’s position coach, Brian Hartline, is now the offensive coordinator in Columbus. He says his relationship is as strong as ever with the former Buckeye and ace recruiter.

“It’s been great,” Henry said. “It’s been great since I got the offer. Ain’t nothing changed. I still have a great relationship with Coach Hartline and Coach Day. I’m just blessed.”

Chris Henry Jr., only has one trip planned this fall.

He is set to be in the building when the Longhorns travel to the Horseshoe to take on the defending national champions. Oregon will continue to plug away to try and sway him to fly out west to see the Ducks. But, for now, it seems the flip efforts are falling on deaf ears. For now.

Greg Biggins from 247Sports thinks despite the injury and missed time a year ago, Henry should still be someone to consider as an instant impact freshman in 2026.

“When healthy, Henry is an elite prospect with as much upside as any receiver in the class. Checks in close 6-foot-6, 195 pounds and has tremendous length and flashes surprising agility and lateral quickness for a player his size,” Biggins said. “Explosive out of the gate, can stop and start on a dime, change direction and has a huge catch radius. Has the long speed to stretch the field and hit the home run combined with the size and sure handedness to be a go to guy in key third down situations.

“Dominant in the air on jump balls and a matchup nightmare in the red zone. Needs to
continue to fill out and gain strength and as he does, his game will take off to another level,” Biggins said. “Has rare traits and if he hits his ceiling, has 1st round NFL Draft upside.”
