Dakorien Moore, the top-ranked wide receiver in the 2025 class nationally from Duncanville (TX) and a five-star prospect is the highlight of Texas's official visitors this weekend. Having recently completed official visits to Ohio State in Columbus and LSU in Baton Rouge over the past two weekends, Texas aims to strengthen its position as the frontrunner for the cycle's most prestigious wide receiver recruit.
Can they close the deal this weekend when he visits?
WR Dakorien Moore Visits Texas Longhorns
Before embarking on his summer official visits, Texas was perceived to have a narrow advantage over Oregon, which was ranked second among his top choices. Although Ohio State managed to leave a positive impression on Moore, it seems it wasn't sufficient to surpass Texas's lead or even Oregon, who remains in second place.
According to insiders, expectations are high that Texas will ultimately be Moore's choice in his recruitment journey. It's rumored that during his visit to Texas this weekend, Moore will be welcomed by freshman edge rusher and previous five-star recruit Colin Simmons, who was his teammate at Duncanville for several years.
Even after Texas lost its top three receivers to the NFL Draft, the team's wide receiver room remains impressively stacked. Thanks to Steve Sarkisian's efforts in the transfer portal, as well as two former five-star recruits ready to prove their worth, the addition of Moore would further amplify the threat posed by this dynamic group.
Insider Projects Texas to Complete Flip of Moore from LSU
On3's Steve Wiltfong revealed that he believes Moore indeed commits to Texas.
"I think if you're putting betting odds on the four schools still in play for Dakorien Moore Texas, LSU, Ohio State, and Oregon the Longhorns would be the favorite," Wiltong told Newberg. I think ultimately he will end up in Austin based on the way it's setting up right now.
