Expectations are high for Texas quarterback Arch Manning, but his own lofty goals are likely in line with what the public hopes he'll become.
College football's next star is already atop the sport's NIL generators, and his newest deal with athletic brand Vuori adds to his infinity stone collection of sponsorships. In the announcement, Manning expanded on what makes him tick and who his NFL role model is.
"I really like to watch Josh Allen," Manning said. "He’s one of my biggest role models. I love the way he plays. I like the way he carries himself."
Josh Allen, quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, just won NFL MVP for the first time in 2024. He's completed 63.3% of attempts for 26,434 yards, 195 touchdowns, and 84 interceptions over seven seasons.
He continued to talk about how pressure can affect things, but it's important to stay grounded and not lose sight of what matters.
“I think building your own legacy starts with staying true to yourself. There’s a lot of built-up pressure, but I try to just work hard and be present—not looking at the past or the future—but instead focusing right in the moment where my feet are.”
You can definitely see some similarities between Allen and Manning in their playing styles. The Texas quarterback has the ability to break off impressive runs from time to time.
While Allen is a bit larger, Manning, at 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, exemplifies the prototype of a big, athletic, and mobile quarterback that Allen represents.
This year, Manning will finally have the opportunity to showcase his skills as he has already been named the starting quarterback. NFL teams will be paying close attention. Allen is an exceptional talent, and many franchises would be eager to acquire a quarterback with comparable attributes.
However, they might need to wait a bit longer for Manning's turn.
Last season, Manning had limited opportunities at Texas when Quinn Ewers was sidelined due to injury. He managed to throw for 939 yards, completing nine touchdowns and two interceptions, while also rushing for 108 yards and adding four more touchdowns.
