The 2024 spring Transfer Portal window has opened! The expected fireworks show hasn't exactly blown up just yet, but over 2500 players have entered. There may not be many "elite" names in the portal at the moment, but for college football teams who still need quarterback help there are definitely some intriguing options.

But who are these top transfer portal quarterback options? And are they any better than the quarterbacks already on your favorite college football teams? Let's dive in.

Timmy McClain, QB UCF

If you want your program to bring in the most predictable, boring pocket passer, then Timmy McClain isn't your guy. But if you want a dual threat option that makes absolutely insane plays from time to time, then McClain should be on the radar. Just look at this wild play from last season again Baylor in the post below.

He cleaned up his passing game numbers last season in his limited action, proving he could be a team's lead QB option. But McClain mainly deserves a shot at a starting job thanks to his dynamic playmaking ability outside of structure.

Collin Schlee, QB UCLA

Schlee was one of the best QBs in the MAC back in 2022, throwing 13 touchdowns to just five interceptions while adding 500 rushing yards on the ground. He struggled to firmly grasp the UCLA job last season, but brings 1000 snaps of experience with him to wherever he's going to land this spring. He's a safe option for teams to target that want a player who can start right away and add some fun mobility on the side.

Jacolby Criswell, QB Arkansas

Criswell has unfortunately been stuck behind some really good college quarterbacks. First, it was Drake Maye at North Carolina, who will be a first round draft pick soon. Then it was KJ Jefferson last season, an absolute beast of a man at 6'3", 250 pounds. And this spring, it seems Criswell has had enough. He wants an opportunity to be the clear cut QB1 somewhere. A former top 300 recruit and 11th ranked QB in the 2020 class according to the 247Sports Composite.

Tad Hudson, QB North Carolina

Tad Hudson joins a long list of 2023 recruiting class quarterbacks already in the portal this offseason. 8 of the top 30 QBs from last year's freshman group are in the portal, with more likely to follow.

Tad Hudson was an extremely productive high school player who also played baseball at a high level too. He can absolutely launch the ball. Hudson doesn't bring extreme dual threat ability, but he should be one of the more popular portal options with four years of eligibility remaining.

Jacurri Brown, QB Miami (FL)

Oh, what could have been with Jacurri Brown. There were many in and around the Miami program that thought Brown could be special. However, in his limited opportunities it's been quite the mixed bag, with four touchdowns and four interceptions. He does bring some crazy athleticism and raw arm talent though. If the right offensive coordinator with the scheme to lean into his mobility came along, he could still rekindle some magic.

Emmett Morehead, QB Boston College

Boston College wanted to go in a dual threat direction last season, so Morehead lost his job, but he was actually quite impressive back in 2022 in his first year starting. If he lands somewhere with any decent weapons at all, Morehead can execute an offense well from the pocket.
