Top wide receiver recruit in the nation could flip commitment amid visits to Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, and LSU

Dakorien Moore of Duncanville, Texas is the number one wide receiver recruit in the nation for the 2025 recruiting class next spring. If you're unfamiliar with Moore, he's been widely considered the top wide receiver in his class for more than a year and half now. His elite near Olympic speed, YAC ability, and advanced route running for his age are unmatched among every high school player in the nation.
By the time his junior year began Moore already had over 30 FBS College Football scholarship offers. He had already made the rounds with a number of visits too, so Moore went ahead and committed incredibly early to the LSU Tigers last August. However, after his absurdly productive junior year with over 1500 yards and nearly 20 touchdowns he's clearly looking around at other options.
While it's true Moore is maintaining his solid verbal commitment to LSU, Moore recently did announce his "final four" schools up for consideration. Those final four schools being LSU, Ohio State, Texas, and Oregon. He's currently in the midst of a series of visits this spring, and according to On3 Sports just wrapped up his latest trip to Texas this past weekend.
Reports suggest Moore is continuing to build strong relationships at Texas, which makes sense given that this weekend's trip marks his seventh documented in-person visit with the Longhorns. He's also recently visited Oregon, Ohio State, LSU's junior day, and will reportedly be visiting a couple of his top schools again here soon.
But why all the hype for Moore specifically? And why has has been the top receiver for so long? In short he's one of the most electric high school athletes in the entire country, regardless of the sport we're talking about.
This spring he officially logged a 10.4-second 100 meter dash time in track, absolutely flying past his competition.
And that elite speed isn't just limited to the track. He's logged multiple plays with the ball in his hands at or above 22 miles per hour on the field. You can see one such play in this post from Reel Analytics on a 66-yard touchdown score.
It's the easy speed, acceleration, and sharp cuts on his routes that make him an obvious slam dunk wide receiver recruit and eventual top NFL Draft prospect. But who is actually going to land Dakorien Moore's services once he gets to college? Is LSU really going to hold onto his commitment? Or will one of his other "top four" schools flip him?
Who will flip or sign Dakorien Moore?
LSU is the obvious favorite at the moment given that Moore is already committed, has already hosted him this spring, and is set to bring him back again soon. And it certainly doesn't hurt that the Tigers are sending two of their 2023 wide receivers to the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft either. But there are certainly signs his interests in Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas are very real.
Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks have two star receivers in Tez Johnson and Evan Stewart (transfer from Texas A&M) who will very likely be departing after this season for the NFL. And Moore has stated earlier this spring to SI that coach Lanning is clearly "building a lot down there [at Oregon]" and wants "[Moore] to be along the journey so we can get that championship". Moore could easily slide in as the team's leading receiver in year one given the timing of key departures and need.
Ohio State just brought him in for a visit in mid-March that reportedly went very well. Moore also stated this spring that, "[Brian] Hartline, he's the best", when discussing recruiting the best wide receivers in the country to all compete and inevitably go on to the NFL. The competition would make earlier production more difficult with the Buckeyes, but Moore may not shy away from that at all.
And last but not least, Texas might be the leader for Moore right now, despite not having his commitment at the moment. He's just visited them twice this spring, has announced he's going to be back for the spring game, and is reportedly bonding well with both head coach Steve Sarkisian and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson. All the most recent signs are pointing towards him flipping to Texas. Yes, Moore is also going to apparently attend LSU's spring game too, but this recruiting battle is clearly a fierce one to watch in the coming weeks as he could flip at any time.
