Kaliq Lockett of Sachse, Texas is the number two wide receiver recruit in the nation (behind only fellow Texas native, Dakorien Moore) for the 2025 recruiting class next spring. If you're unfamiliar with Lockett, he's been considered a top tier recruit for over a year now, but just recently locked in his five-star status this spring according to all the major recruiting services.

Lockett has already been absolutely dominating the camp circuit and various junior day events this spring. Now he's set to feature at the On3 Elite Series event in Nashville to end the month of May. But right after that he has a crucial run of four on-campus visits to a handful of his favorite schools. And according to Steve Wiltfong of On3 Sports his visit plans for the summer just changed. It appears he's leaning heavier towards the Texas schools now.

Amid several campus visits Lockett already made this spring he developed a few key relationships that influenced his recent shift towards Texas A&M, Texas, LSU, and Florida State (his four upcoming official visits). He spent some time with other top tier recruits at both the Texas A&M and LSU spring games in April. Then apparently his relationship with Texas A&M QB commit, Husan Longstreet, helped spur him towards shedding his USC official visit and flipping it to A&M.

This doesn't necessarily mean that the Aggies are now leading for his recruitment, but given that he's from Texas and will now be prioritizing visits to both big in-state brands it certainly looks like they both should be in the mix until the end.

Lockett's offer list exploded late last fall after he began dominating top Texas 6A competition for more than 22 yards per reception. His track speed, incredible wingspan (reported to be 6'7"), burst, and agility make him one of the most ridiculous receiving weapons in the 2025 recruiting class. His 59 receptions for 1300 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior gave him one of the most impressive production profiles among all wide receivers in the nation. It's not wonder that over 30 FBS programs have now offered him.

Lockett has already visited Texas a half dozen times at this point, LSU and Texas A&M multiple times, and Florida State just this spring. With visits to all four coming within a month of each other this summer we may finally get some clarity as to where this five star stud is going to be taking his talents here soon.
