It's official.
Bill Belichick is the next head coach at the University of North Carolina. And he was welcomed with an introductory press conference on Thursday afternoon.
The Tar Heels honored Belichick in the best possible way, handing him a one-of-a-kind gift at the podium.
It was none other than a gray sleeveless sweatshirt with the UNC logo on the front.
Belichick was known for his fashion during his NFL tenure.
But that wasn't the only piece of merch Belichick had for the day. He also brought his father's UNC sweatshirt from when he coached there from 1953-1955.
And there was one main message that was passed down throughout his youth: "Beat Duke."
The future Hall of Fame coach is very excited about the transition to the college side.
"I've always wanted to coach in college football. It just never really worked out. Had some good years in the NFL… so that was OK," he said. "This is a dream come true.”
And he settled any speculation that he is using this as a stepping stone to get back into the NFL.
“I didn’t come here to leave," he simply said.
Chapel Bill has started.
