To last at Ohio State, you have to beat Michigan and compete for a National Championship year in and year out. Those are the stipulations for making it with the Buckeyes.

Ryan Day has not done the beat Michigan part with much success and that has to change going forward. With the offseason that the Buckeyes have had, it very well could be the year it happens.

Expectations around the college football landscape are that the Buckeyes could be the team to beat in 2024 and they may have the most loaded roster. One guy who may know a thing two about winning in Columbus has given a bold take on what he sees on this current roster.

“As of now, this is one of the most talented rosters in the last decade, maybe ever. That’s a big statement,” said former Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer. “They’ve got to play, but you look at the quality of athletes at every position, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Ohio State was lucky enough to have a ton of talent return to school instead of entering the NFL Draft or even transferring out. Quarterback Will Howard, safety Caleb Downs, and running back Quinshon Judkins are the big-impact transfers that the Buckeyes brought in.

Jack Sawyer, J.T Tuimalaou, Tyliek Williams, Lathan Ransom, Denzel Burke, TreVeyon Henderson, and Emeka Egbuka we’re just a few of the players that decided that their job was not done in Columbus.

The Buckeyes have not won a national title since 2014 when Cardale Jones and Ezekiel Elliott helped Ohio State roll past Oregon.

Meyer was not the only former coach who sees good things brewing in Columbus and opponents are plenty aware of what is on the roster for the Buckeyes.

“I’ve never seen that many great players in that building all at once,” former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel said. “Every position, every place you turn. So Ryan has done a great job, Ohio State has done a great job.”
