There isn't really a school that is hotter in recruiting right now than the USC Trojans are. They are using their location, name, and money to the best of their advantage, and man is it paying off big time, as they now have the No. 1 2026 class.
The Trojans could be looking to continue their roll, though, and a successful visit with another five-star and one of the best players in the entire 2026 class would only give them a pretty sizeable gap between them and Oregon.
USC Trojans to visit with QB Ryder Lyons
Ryder Lyons is a top-rated five-star quarterback from Folsom High School in California, considered one of the best in the Class of 2026. At 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, he’s a dual-threat QB with a strong arm and good speed. In his junior year, through 10 games, he completed 71.8% of his passes for 2,516 yards and 41 touchdowns, with only three interceptions, and ran for over 500 yards and several scores. His standout game was a playoff win where he threw for 513 yards and eight touchdowns in a 68-28 blowout against Downey High School.
As a sophomore in 2023, Lyons led Folsom to state and division titles, throwing for 3,578 yards and 38 touchdowns while rushing for 929 yards. He won the 2024-2025 Gatorade California Football Player of the Year award and has over 30 college offers from big names like USC, Oregon, Michigan, and BYU. His brother Walker plays tight end at USC, and his dad Tim played at BYU, but Lyons hasn’t picked a school yet.
Lyons is ranked as a top-five QB and as high as No. 11 overall in his class. Coaches and analysts see him as a future star, maybe even a Heisman contender, thanks to his skills and cool-headedness. USC is a favorite to land him, but he’s also checking out other schools like Sacramento State and Michigan, looking at coaching, program fit, and NIL opportunities.
Wherever he goes, he’s expected to make a big impact. If he can join USC, he will surely put their class over the top. But, that could also force USC to make a tough QB decision.
Elite 2026 recruit is now giving the USC Trojans the perfect chance to prove themselves
That would be the perfect addition.
