A Person Close to OBJ Reveals Just How 'in' the Dallas Cowboys are

The Dallas Cowboys (6-3) are coming off their latest loss. This time at the hands of the then reeling Green Bay Packers.
In the game, WR CeeDee Lamb went off for what might be his best performance of his career so far. 11 catches on 150 yards and two touchdowns on 15 targets.
But therein lies the bigger issue. Outside of Lamb, the Cowboys are lacking in quality wide receiver play.
Michael Gallup can't create separation like he did pre-injury; Jalen Tolbert is starting to get snaps but has barely been targeted and continues to have issues; KaVontae Turpin has juice but is better suited on special teams for the time being; Noah Brown's having a breakout season, but isn't a difference-maker the Cowboys need; Both James Washington and Simi Fehoko are on IR, with Washington set to return but has done nothing in his career that indicates that will suddenly change.
Enter Odell Beckham Jr.
The three-time Pro Bowler has been tied to the Dallas Cowboys for weeks. With mutual interest only heightening since the end of the NFL Trade Deadline.
There are a myriad of different opinions on where and when OBJ will sign. With someone like Michael Irvin, one of the first people to confirm the mutual interest before anyone, saying it will come down to the Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.
But what about those closest to him?
In an report from the New York Post, Ian O'Connor interviewed Beckham's high school coach Nelson Stewart. In the report, Stewart claims the Cowboys are one of the real contenders for Beckham, but maybe not 'the' top spot.
“If I’m a betting man right now, I’d flip a coin between New York and Dallas. It’s tight. But of all the teams I’ve heard about, the one that really resonates a little bit more is New York…
Odell loved his time in New York… His end in New York was abrupt at a time of turmoil, and it had a cloudiness to it. I think to go back to where it all started would be amazing for Odell.
He’s grown up a lot, he’s grounded and he loves being a dad. He’s just in a great spot now. To me New York is a win-win.”
This should be concerning for the Dallas Cowboys who lack that second outside play-maker, as well as allowing him to return to the Giants, who at 7-2, are just as in the mix for the NFC East as Dallas is with the Philadelphia Eagles.
How ready OBJ is to sign, combined with when he's cleared to play and what he's offered will clear up when he plays. While the Cowboys should consider themselves fortunate to be in play, other teams are going to continue to make a push.
