When the Dallas Cowboys were on the clock with the 26th pick in the first round, Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer was still on the board, and it felt like a forgone conclusion that he'd be the selection.

Cowboys' defensive coordinator Dan Quinn got his way though, and Dallas got an anchor on their interior defensive line in Mazi Smith out of Michigan. Immediately after he was selected, one of the Cowboys' biggest leaders had something to say.

All-Pro linebacker/edge Micah Parsons was on Bleacher Report's live draft show and delivered a message that Smith won't forget any time soon.

"Mazi, man, listen, welcome to the team," said Parsons. "You're somebody that I wanted to be a part of this organization. I love the way you play. I just hope you're ready to be a part of the best D-line in the NFL. I'm going to help you get sacks, you're going to help me get sacks. Let's strive together and get this Super Bowl and get paid."

 Talk about motivation.

Smith and his ability to take on double teams in the middle will certainly help Parsons succeed with more one-on-one opportunities on the edge. Parsons is a menace on the outside, and he'll be double-teamed as well, and in doing so, Smith will get his chances to defeat blockers in individual matchups.

A big reason for the excitement of Parsons is what happened earlier on Thursday. Parsons sent a text to Quinn lobbying for the Cowboys to take Smith, and he said "I'm all about that life" in response.

Immediately after he found out about Smith joining the Cowboys, Parsons jumped out of his seat.

"Let's go, man. Let's go," Parsons said with overwhelming excitement. "Dan knew. Look at the text, man. I told you, Dan wouldn't let me down."

While walking around, still basking in the glory of the Cowboys granting his wish, Parsons yelled "We about that life."

How can you not love stuff like this?
