The Dallas Cowboys take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's game will be headlined by the fact that the Cowboys will be without franchise passer Dak Prescott. Cooper Rush is set to take over behind center.
On the other side, Joe Burrow will catch a ton of attention. Burrow broke out in a big way during his second season in the NFL. However, the former LSU star threw four interceptions in the Bengals' season-opening loss.
One of the key matchups to watch in the game will be Cowboys' star defensive back Trevon Diggs versus Bengals' star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase. Both are among the young, bright stars in the NFL and both will be looking for a big performance on Sunday.
Rematch for Diggs and Chase
The two have already lined up against each other before. Ja'Marr Chase got the better of Trevon Diggs on the collegiate level when LSU knocked off Alabama in Tuscaloosa back in 2019.
Chase grabbed six catches for 140 yards and a touchdown in the 46-41 LSU win. Chase's touchdown came with Diggs in coverage.
You better believe that Diggs is chomping at the bit to get his revenge, so to speak, on Chase. All eyes will be on the two when they are lined up against one another in AT&T Stadium.
Previewing this week's battle
The Dallas Cowboys have not yet said if Trevon Diggs will follow Ja'Marr Chase on Sunday. However, Mike McCarthy has full belief that his All-Pro defensive back is up for the challenge if that decision is made.
"I think we feel comfortable putting Trevon on anybody," said McCarthy during the week.
Ja'Marr Chase is well aware of what Diggs brings to the table, having played against him in the SEC. He spoke of the Cowboys' corner this week.
"He's an athlete. Great ball skills in the air," Chase said. "Super fast. He's a little hit-or-miss. He's either all the way on, or he's not on at all."
Diggs is known to be a risk taker thanks to his special ball skills and playmaking ability in the secondary. Chase knows that, and Diggs has to be up to the challenge for the Cowboys in the matchup.
Get your popcorn ready for the showdown between these two.
