Stop me if you have heard this before: The Dallas Cowboys are 6-2 and playing good football, looking the part of a championship contender.

That is the case this season. And it was the case last season. However, there is a significant different this time around that points to better results.

The difference? Dak Prescott is healthy.

Last season, Prescott suffered a strained calf injury heading into the bye week. The injury occurred when Prescott threw the game-winning touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb versus the New England Patriots.

Prescott went onto to miss the first game following the bye. He never looked the same afterwards. His play took a dive, and he never got back to the MVP-level of football that he was performing at during the first half of the 2021 regular season.

Cowboys in better position

This year, Dak Prescott suffered an early-season injury. But, he is healthy heading into the bye week. He is coming off a performance in which he threw for 250 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 20-point win.

Good vibes are surrounding QB1 in a similar situation that the Cowboys have already been in. Now, it's time for Dallas to capitalize on the situation.

Prescott missed a big chunk of the early part of the season. However, he did return to play the last two games before the bye week. And that seemed to pay off, allowing to get into a groove for the home stretch.

The defense, led by Micah Parsons, is balling. Their play takes a ton of pressure and stress off the Cowboys' offense, while providing nightmares to opponents on the schedule. With Dak Prescott healthy this season, the Dallas Cowboys have an opportunity to really make a statement and contend in a wide open NFC.

Upcoming matchups against the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will put the team to the test. That said, it is clear that the Dallas Cowboys are in great position to capitalize in a familiar situation.

And if they can, they're going to be on a much better path than they were last year.
