The Dallas Cowboys are not going to get very many style points for the win over the Tennessee Titans. However, there were some positives to take away from the 27-13 win on Thursday night in Nashville.

Arguably the biggest was Dalton Schultz. The Cowboys' tight end had, easily, his best game of the 2022 season. Schultz was targeted 10 times by Dak Prescott, catching seven passes for 56 yards and two touchdowns.

Schultz's second touchdown grab of the night was a thing of beauty. Prescott placed the ball in the perfect spot, and Schultz went up and grabbed it. That all but put the game away for the Cowboys.

Perfect timing for Cowboys

Dalton Schultz has had an up-and-down season. Playing on the franchise tag – and for a new contract – Schultz hasn't had the type of season that he envisioned.

Schultz has dealt with injuries and played with a backup quarterback while Prescott was sidelined. Those are two factors that can be attributed to his performance this year. Still, he is an important piece to the offense that needs to get going.

Thursday night reminded us of how strong the Prescott-to-Schultz connection can be. Schultz has emerged as a trusted target for Prescott over the last few seasons, and he showed up big in the road victory over the Titans.

Furthermore, it is a key development for the Cowboys ahead of the playoffs. Dallas has relied heavily on CeeDee Lamb carrying the load in the passing game. Lamb is ascending into a star, but the Cowboys need more from others in big moments.

Dalton Schultz has stepped up to the plate at the right time. His latest performance demonstrates that he is still a middle-of-the-field and red zone threat that defenses must account for.

With just one more game remaining before the playoffs, Schultz turned in his best performance of the season. It's just what the doctor ordered. The Dak Prescott and Dalton Schultz connection has a chance to pay off big for the Dallas Cowboys when it matters the most.
