The Dallas Cowboys have done an excellent job this offseason of filling roster holes and addressing important needs. Trading for Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks are the two biggest examples of that.
Which means that the Cowboys have some flexibility entering the 2023 NFL Draft. The team doesn't have to reach on a prospect simply because they have a glaring need to fill. Rather, Dallas is sitting in position where they can sit back, let the draft fall to them, and take the best player on the board.
ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller sees Dallas bolstering their offensive line with their first-round pick. Miller identified the ideal pick for the Cowboys, who just so happens to have a championship pedigree.
Georgia offensive lineman Broderick Jones is the prospect that Miller believes would be the best pick for the Cowboys. Jones won two national championships with the Bulldogs and is regarded as one of the best linemen in the draft class.
"Tyron Smith is 33, turning 34. He'll be a free agent after this year. He was banged up a lot of last year," Miller said. "Let's take Broderick Jones, the meanest offensive tackle in this draft, next to Tyler Smith."
Miller sees a duo of Jones and Tyler Smith paying off in a meaningful way. In fact, he thinks those two together would bring back the days of Dallas winning big when the team leaned on the big uglies up front.
"I think pairing those two together, you can go back to those early Dallas Cowboys dynasty days of building a wall along the offensive line," said Miller.
That has to be music to Cowboys' ears. Although interior offensive line is probably a bigger need than tackle, Jones is an intriguing prospect that could give Dallas a boost at a premium position.
