Life in the NFL isn't the same for every player or coach. It's a punishing league and while some are able to overlook (and in many cases, ignore) the negative sides of the league that entertains so many, it seems like former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones is taking a different route.
On Saturday, the 2015 first-round pick took to Twitter to shed light on his situation as the NFL Scouting Combine quickly approaches. As every year, Jones' Combine drills are going viral after his historic performance in the event that boosted his draft stock significantly.
In his two tweets below, Byron shares his frustration, urging players to not take pills and injections that NFL teams offer during the process. The former Cowboys DB also suggests playing in the league wasn't worth the health issues that he's dealt with, heavily hinting that he's retiring.
"It was an honor and privilege to play in the NFL but it came at a regrettable cost I did not foresee," tweeted the 30-year-old who once was a collegiate star for Connecticut.
Byron Jones, most recently a Miami Dolphin, didn't play in 2022 after suffering an Achilles injury. Many questioned why we never heard more about the situation of the guy who was once seen as one of the best young cornerbacks in the league. Now it appears we have an answer.
Although there aren't any reports of any official retirement filings from Jones, his tweets certainly suggest this is it for the former Dallas Cowboys defender.
