News around the Dallas Cowboys was jumping on Tuesday, mainly because of free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham. Not only did team owner Jerry Jones say how good a star would look on his helmet, but All-Pro linebacker, Micah Parsons, did some recruiting of Odell also.
The communication between Parsons and Beckham, much to the delight of Cowboys' fans, wasn't one-sided. Less than two hours after Parsons set Twitter ablaze, Beckham's response did the same, and it was a juicy one.
Love to see it. However, Parsons doubled down on why he wants the two-time second-team All-Pro in Dallas on Wednesday.
“S***, we could use him, said Parsons. "I think he’s a great player. He’s a guy you want on your team. I think he’s a great dude. I think he could add good value to the team and help us do what we want to do.”
Another current player on the Cowboys roster recently put in his two cents on the Beckham sweepstakes. Running back Ezekiel Elliott, who is all too familiar with Beckham from his days with the New York Giants, said his old rival is more than wanted in Big D.
“We know the type of player Odell is," said Elliott. "We know how explosive he can be and what he can be for this offense. It’d be great to get him down here in Dallas. Just another weapon in our repertoire. …We want him. We want OBJ.”
It doesn't stop there, though.
The Beckham recruiting bonanza has even reached former Cowboys greats. Hall of Fame wide receiver, Michael Irvin, who is always vocal about his feelings towards the Cowboys, made it clear that his old boss, the aforementioned Jones, needs to get Beckham's signature on a new deal.
“Odell is built to be in Dallas," Irvin said via 105.3 The Fan on Wednesday. "He’s been wanting to play in Dallas for a long time. I believe (the Cowboys) do have the upper hand right now. He's not going back to the Rams with the way they look right now. He's not going to Green Bay with the way they look right now. It'll definitely be Dallas. I think he'll have that opportunity. I wonder what the (price will be) because he'll have other opportunities. Jerry (Jones) just has to get in and get it done. And the good thing is, you're not giving up any draft picks (to get him). So, it would be a great get if (Jerry) can get Odell. …I know he would love to play for the Cowboys."
At this point, what else needs to be said?
A plethora of individuals surrounding the Cowboys' organization is campaigning for Beckham's services. If the Cowboys don't get this done, it will be a major opportunity lost.
