It's that time of the year: As Madden 24's release date approaches, NFL players around the league are reacting strongly to the iconic video game's ratings. That includes Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs.

And listen, I'm not knocking the players that get outraged at how the game grades them. In fact, I think it's pretty cool that they care in the first place. As somebody who not only grew up playing Madden but learned the basics of the sport's Xs and Os through it, it's reassuring to know players also enjoy it in several ways.

And now that I've stopped playing the game (EA Sports really doesn't care about improving it these days), it's still quite fun to follow the ratings and everyone's reaction to them.

Here's what Diggs had to say about the fact that he was snubbed from the game's Top 10 cornerbacks:

Well, it's good to know Diggs will take even an 87 overall rating as enough of a slight to not "f**** with it."

I will say it surprises me that Madden doesn't have Diggs in the top 10 players at the position as the game will usually put a lot of weight in a player's name. That's probably the same reason why Jalen Ramsey and Jaire Alexander are graded better than rising stars Sauce Gardner and Patrick Surtain, who were recently ranked as the best two players in the position by NFL execs, scouts, and coaches via an ESPN poll.

Speaking of that anonymous poll, Trevon Diggs ranked eighth in it while Stephon Gilmore was unraked (even though he did receive Top 10 votes). However, Gilmore's career and Defensive Player of the Year accolades land him seventh in this year's Madden.

I don't know about Gilmore's gaming habits, but I like to imagine Diggs walking into the locker room and seeing his new teammate playing it and trash-talking him as only good friends can.

In all seriousness, this can become one of the best cornerback duos in the league if Diggs keeps improving in Year 4 of his career and Gilmore remains the same player at 33 years old (he turns 33 in September).
