The Dallas Cowboys decided that it was time to make CeeDee Lamb their primary wide receiver in 2022, and it paid off.

Lamb would not only garner his second consecutive Pro Bowl honor but he was named a second-team All-Pro, more than solidifying his status as a first-round pick. However, it was one particular area that Lamb shined immensely in.

Pro Football Focus listed the top wide receivers against single coverage last season. Big names such as A.J. Brown, Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, and Amari Cooper were highlighted, and at the No. 7 spot, Lamb was given his just due.

Per PFF:

"Cooper’s former teammate showed why he could be the guy in Dallas this past season, recording career highs in just about every major statistical receiving category. Of Lamb’s 36 catches vs. single coverage, 31 went for a first down and over half (19) went for 15-plus yards."

That's exactly what any team wants from their top target in the passing game.

Cowboys' quarterback Dak Prescott foresaw this type of production from Lamb last March when he spoke on his confidence in him being the No. 1 guy in the passing game for Dallas.

“Yeah, there is no doubt he is,” Prescott said. “You look at a guy like CeeDee and what he’s done in his first two years and it’s exciting just to know it’s only the beginning and he hasn’t even scratched the surface. For him to be the one, to be the main guy I know he’s going to be ready for it.”

Lamb was tied for fifth in receptions (107), sixth in yards (1,359), and tied for sixth in receiving touchdowns (9) last season. The Cowboys needed every bit of it considering all the other receivers on the roster only amassed 1,161 yards and seven scores, making wide receiver a huge need for Dallas in the NFL draft.

Lamb just keeps getting better every year, and now, there can't be a discussion about the top wide receivers in the NFL without him in it.
