One huge need for the Dallas Cowboys may be close to getting resolved.
Last week, it was reported that free agent nose tackle Jonathan Hankins, who played with the Cowboys in 2022, wasn't in a rush to sign with anyone. However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on Monday that progress is being made on a new deal for Hankins to return to Dallas.
Hankins was a godsend for the Cowboys' defense last season as the space-eater they need on their defensive interior. Unfortunately, Hankins missed the final four games with a pectoral injury but returned for the playoffs and recorded a sack against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round.
Bringing Hankins back wouldn't stop the Cowboys from drafting another 1-tech/nose tackle in the NFL draft at some point. What it will do is provide the Cowboys with a massive anchor on their defensive to help with their issue when it comes to stopping the run and add him to smart in-house free agent signings along with safety Donovan Wilson, linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, and edge rusher Dante Fowler.
