After the Dallas Cowboys season ended in the second round of the playoffs, they didn’t waste time making changes, but not to the roster.

The Cowboys didn't renew the contracts of several of their coaching staff members in January including long-time defensive line coach Leon Lett and senior defensive assistant George Edwards.

On Wednesday, they did some in-house finagling to their staff according to ESPN's Todd Archer, making several promotions.

Jeff Blasko takes over for former running backs coach Skip Peete who joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers staff on Tuesday. Scott Tolzien replaces Doug Nussmeier after spending the last three seasons as a coaching assistant in Dallas, and he also played under Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy for three seasons during his time with the Green Bay Packers.

Scott McCurley will be the Cowboys' primary linebackers coach after Edwards joined Peete with the Buccaneers staff. His role was diminished after his first year in Dallas in 2020 before Edwards took over.

McCurley has spent his entire coaching career under McCarthy in Green Bay and Dallas.

Cannon Matthews has spent the last three seasons as the Cowboys' defensive quality control coach and will now assist AL Harris who has been the defensive backs coach in Dallas for the last three seasons.
