The Dallas Cowboys are making additions to their coaching staff at a very fast pace.
After bringing former first-round pick Sharrif Floyd on board Thursday as the team's new assistant defensive line and quality control coach, the Cowboys have also brought former safety Darian Thompson to the mix as their new assistant linebackers and quality control coach.
Thompson interviewed for the position this week and will work with Scott McCurley who has been the Cowboys' linebacker coach since 2020.
A former third-round pick in 2016, Thompson played four years for the Cowboys (2018-2021) as a safety. He played in 45 games with 11 starts and racked up 91 tackles, four passes defended, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in a reserve role.
Thompson buttered his bread as a special teamer in Dallas with 652 snaps and became their ace in that regard.
Now, Thompson begins his coaching career at just 29 years of age.
