There's not a more intriguing talking point when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys or the NFL than quarterback Dak Prescott.

Dallas is currently trying to finagle some of their finances to get under the salary cap by the March 15 deadline. One way they could help in that effort is by extending Prescott.

Stephen Jones, the team's executive vice president, is the man behind the money in Dallas these days, much to the dismay of Cowboys fans with how tight he's been with the dollars. But, he mentioned an extension for Prescott last week.

"We've got to have a plan to ultimately extend Dak," Jones said.

On Tuesday, Prescott spoke on the possible extension, and also his desire to be with the Cowboys going forward.

“100% I’m excited to be a Dallas Cowboy. As I said, I mean, always dreamed to be here, and now that I'm here I don’t expect to play for any other team," said Prescott. "Now it’s just about winning. So, just trying to get that done.

"Just to hear, obviously, as you say in the front office, looking forward to an extension. So, when that time comes, it’ll happen. I’m with Stephen on it, it may just happen overnight.”

Assuming this happens soon, it surely will come with some backslash.

Prescott missed five games in 2022 with a broken thumb. However, he was still tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with 15. The last seven games specifically were a disaster as he threw 11 including four games of multiple interceptions.

It didn't help that Prescott threw two more in the Cowboys' playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers which caused some to suggest Dallas should move on. But, regardless, the Cowboys are committed to Prescott and vice versa.

The biggest thing now, as Prescott said, is winning, which the Cowboys haven't done on the ultimate level in almost 30 years.
