Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is playing at an MVP level

We all know the Dallas Cowboys got off to a really hot start to the season.
Through the first four weeks, they were 3-1 and had outscored opponents 124-41. They were riding high. Then they ran into an all too familiar foe. The Cowboys were manhandled by the San Francisco 49ers and fans fell into an all-too-familiar pit of misery.
Since that loss, the Cowboys have looked to be back on track, going 5-1, and most recently handled the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving.
There have been numerous standouts in the stretch of the games following the loss to the 49ers.
DaRon Bland has intercepted his way into history books. Micah Parsons is doing Micah Parsons things. Yet there is one guy who just might be outperforming them all.
Dak Prescott is putting up MVP numbers
Quarterback Dak Prescott has been on an absolute heater in these past few weeks, and frankly, he is playing at an MVP level.
In the last 5 games, Dak Prescott has thrown for the most yards in the NFL with 1,602 and he has the most yards per game with 320.4.
Oh, and you know how everyone was so quick to label him as a turnover-prone QB after last year? Well in the last five weeks, he has 2 interceptions (tied fewest in the league), and his interception percentage is tied for the best in the league at 1.1.
The advanced stats get even better. In weeks eight through eleven, Dak Prescott has a league-best EPA/play (expected points added) and adjusted EPA/play with 0.396 and 0.383 respectively (minimum 100 snaps).
Now we don't know what voters take into account when voting on league awards. Do they look at stats, is it all the eye test? Surely they will look at how the team performed as a whole.
It is worth pointing out, that the quarterbacks who are normally at the top of the MVP conversation such as Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes; well they aren't playing their best.
Josh Allen is 12th in the league in adjusted EPA/play with 0.119. While Patrick Mahomes is down at 20th and actually is in the negatives in this category with -0.059.
If Dak continues this pace, he will force his way into the conversation.
One thing Dak can do to strengthen his case is perform better against the league's best. With games coming up against the Eagles, Bills, and the Dolphins he will have no shortage of opportunities.
If Prescott performs at this level against top-tier competition like the rivals mentioned above, and even more so if the Cowboys snatch the division from the Eagles, he might leave MVP voters no choice.
We often talk about Prescott's MVP odds in the preseason or even September. But we're now approaching December and Dak's season is a reality. Will voters agree?
Cowboys have unlocked a new level of dominance for Micah Parsons
Have the Cowboys found a way to make Micah Parsons even scarier?
