The Dallas Cowboys have had one of the elite offenses in the NFL over the past few seasons. Dak Prescott and his development passing the ball is a huge reason for that. Dallas has been towards the top in nearly every offensive statistic.

And there is confidence more success will follow, even with Kellen Moore leaving for the Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach Mike McCarthy is set to take over playcalling duties, a change that All-Pro lineman Zack Martin is very much excited about.

McCarthy made a career out of calling offense. Now, he will have that opportunity once again next season. And he is already encouraged with the way that Dak Prescott is handling the changes on that side of the ball.

“At the end of the day, the quarterback needs to own the offense,” McCarthy said this week. “I have no interest in being known as some guru coach or a smart coach. I want smart, Hall of Fame-type quarterbacks. The only way to get there is to make them own the offense."

The Cowboys have introduced the "Texas Coast Offense", a blend between the offense that Dallas has ran in recent years and the traditional West Coast Offense. Prescott is comfortable in what he is being asked to do.

Still early in the offseason, it would be understandable if Prescott was still adjusting to the new terminology and the way that McCarthy and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer want to run things. But that is not the case.

“(Prescott) has done a really good job of taking ownership of that," McCarthy told the media about the way that Dak is handling the transition to the new offensive system. "He’s knocked it out of the park.”

Prescott is coming off a season in which he missed five games due to injury and turned the ball over at a career-high rate. Yet, the early indications are that he is gearing up for a bounce back season in a big way.
