Cowboys: Dak Prescott's intense pregame message should terrify the NFL
I'll admit it: I am a sucker for hype videos ands pregame speeches. Sports marketers and video editors know exactly what buttons get my sports fan juices going. I'll admit it: I am a sucker for hype videos ands pregame speeches. Sports marketers and video editors know exactly what buttons get my sports fan juices going.
But I'll tell you, I wasn't prepared for the video of Dak Prescott's pregame speech before the team's Week 1 win over the New York Giants. That was intense, aggressive, and wildly hypeworthy.
Every week, the Cowboys post a "Sounds from the Sideline" series which features plenty of mic'd up moments. On Sunday night, they picked up Prescott's speech and it was epic.
"Hey we came on a mission," yelled Prescott at the top of his lungs. "It's capture or kill! And we don't capture shit. Unleash the f—ing guns. Fly! Hit! Talk shit! And f—ing play Dallas Cowboy football!"
Jeez. I don't know if I felt goosebumps or shivers. No wonder these guys shut out the Giants as dominantly as they did
"Capture or kill, and we don't capture shit"? That's a quote that immediately made me think of the fact that Prescott got his offense together during the offseason for a tailor-made course given by former Navy SEALs. I would be willing to bet that's where that came from.
The Cowboys' intensity was on display since the opening drive which ended in a blocked field goal by the quickly-rising Juanyeh Thomas up until the end when Trevon Diggs was forcing a turnover in the fourth quarter with the team up 40-0.
The Cowboys have shown time and time again they're made to win in the regular season. They've got back-to-back 12-win seasons! But it's their mindset that can make a huge difference once January football comes around. Dak & Co. are tired of back-to-back playoff exits. Sure, it's just a pregame speech, but it's one of the most aggressive ones we've heard from the quarterback entering his eighth year in the league.
It set the tone. Finishing opponents the way they did in New York is precisely the type of team they need to be every week.
Dak Prescott's message and the team's on-field performance should terrify the rest of the NFL. The Cowboys are here.
Cowboys kickers have left too many points on the field since 2020
It’s got to be fixed as soon as possible.
