Dak Prescott has taken a big step in returning to action for the Dallas Cowboys.

Prescott been sidelined with injury since the fourth quarter of the season opener. He fractured the thumb on his throwing hand late versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a result, the Dallas Cowboys have had to play the last four games without their franchise quarterback.

Now, Prescott is getting closer and closer to returning to the field. That return is not expected to take place in week six versus the Philadelphia Eagles. However, it is expected to happen in the near future.

Prescott, who has not been able to grip a football for the last few weeks, was throwing passes on Wednesday. Not only soft, warmup throws. Rather, he was "throwing a variety of routes" after the Cowboys' practice this week.

Dak close to return

Dak Prescott is a very confident quarterback, and that confidence was evident after throwing passes to his receivers. He explained that he is throwing the football with velocity and "pop."

“I’ve got pop. If I don’t have pop, I’m not throwing," said Prescott, as he works his way back to game action.

Michael Gallup echoed the same thoughts. He believes that his quarterback is close to returning to the field.

"It was good to see him out there doing it," Gallup said. "He'll be back out there soon."

Cooper Rush has guided the team in an admirable way during the last four weeks. Dallas is riding a four-game winning streak and have some of the best early odds to make the NFL Playoffs.

Still, there has been a lot to be desired on the offensive side. The Cowboys are in the bottom-third of the league in scoring offense at just 18.6 points per game. Meaning, there is a lot left on the bone for the Cowboys.

Dak Prescott immediately gives the Dallas Cowboys a dynamic player behind center. The Cowboys have proven to be one of the best offenses in football with Prescott at the helm. His return to the field, combined with the way that the defense is playing, makes the Cowboys a legitimate contender in the NFC.

“At this point, it’s all about just gaining strength and comfortability. And that’s happening more and more each day," said Prescott.

Signs are pointing towards No. 4 being back on the field in the very near future. That is great news for the Dallas Cowboys.
